Introduction to
Business Architecture and Business Analysis Workshop
This workshop addresses directly the growing need to use both business architecture and business analysis collaboratively by the same individual or team.
What happens when you are presented with a project that is loosely defined with limited information or business objectives? Currently you just buckle down and try to figure it out on your own without any boundary of context.
So we start with the classic business analysis technique of Context Diagrams. Hopefully we have access to SME’s who know enough about the problem to get us going.
Wouldn’t it be brilliant if we had business context to understand the strategic intent, how the problem is represented in the business, the business capabilities expected to be impacted, how well those capabilities are performing, the business units and locations involved, the in scope business processes and wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a repository we could look to pull previous related documents from to accelerate the work effort?
Wouldn’t you like to have a raised level of confidence for:
- alignment of business objectives to satisfy strategy
- better understanding of business impact to support business cases
- full and clearer requirements
Business architecture is a model of an enterprise (single company or industry) that shows the parts that enable the enterprise to operate.
Business architecture models the enterprise in order to show how strategic concerns of key stakeholders are met and to support ongoing business transformation efforts. It provides architectural descriptions and views, referred to as blueprints, to provide a common understanding of the organization for the purpose of aligning strategic objectives with tactical demands.
Business architecture adds to business analysis by providing the enterprise context of capabilities, business functions, and value chain modeling techniques. Business Architecture is about the strategic design of the business.
Business analysis takes the strategic understanding and applies it to a project capturing requirements to satisfy the need.
This workshop will introduce individuals, and organizations, to the practice of business architecture and the natural dovetailing to business analysis. The workshop demonstrates the linkage of strategy, operations and process across the conceptual, logical and physical business layers providing coverage of the context boundaries, design, requirements, measures and benefits realization.
