UPDATE   UPDATE
IIBA Toronto, IIBA Americas Eastern Region, and other IIBA Chapters have created a survey about you (the role and the practice) which is now happening! One key finding that the data is showing is that you are expected to grow you ability to have influence and to be able to persuade. The survey will be released in October, 2016.

This is a core reason why Julian Chapman and Tony Welsh through their firm, Forrest and Company, are speaking this month at the IIBA Toronto September Speaker Series.

They have agreed to conduct an exercise as part of their presentation and we will have a Q&A or panel discussion depending what the audience wants.

Intro & Benefit

Business Analysts need to influence and persuade people. And you know that having all the right data is never enough. Success or failure at securing approval for our proposals, our ideas for improvement or our new directions rides on our skill at getting people on side.

This lively and interactive session will teach you a universal process to get stakeholders – agilists included – to thoughtfully agree with you. You’ll know and understand all the factors needed to be a successful persuader.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn the universal 8-step process to lead someone to prefer your proposition over all others
  • Understand the different styles of influencing, and with which type of stakeholder each works best
  • Learn how preliminary research, crafted response and thoughtful convincing is the secret to the stronger case, rather than merely demonstrating awareness, interest and desire
